At the moment it's not possible to study jazz performance at a higher academic level in Iceland. Exchange students are however welcome in all the schools listed below. The teachers are excellent and so are the schools
Currently, Iceland University of the Arts only offers a degree program in jazz pedagogy. Hopefully, in the future, they will offer a bachelor program in jazz performance.
Tónlistarskóli FÍH is a private music school run by the music union FÍH. They were the first to offer jazz education in Iceland, and therefore their reputation is strong. Most Icelandic jazz musicians have studied at Tónlistarskóli FÍH at some point. Often before they went to study abroad.
Or “Menntaskóli í tónlist” is a high school for music with a strong jazz department.
