Jazzstudio

As a private school for pop/rock & jazz, Jazzstudio can organize and decide free from government regulations, thus creating a fertile, open minded and challenging field of activity for young musicians.

The full program takes five years (starting in the preparation year), or four years (when you can start in the first year). During their first two years, jazz and pop students share several courses.

That’s why you can switch between those two during these first years.

No musical background is needed to start at the course, but will influence in which year of the course you will start.

Besides the theory classes where the jazz- and pop students follow class together, the focus of the course remains the practical classes where individual guidance is important.

Graduates who want extra coaching for a certain topic can take an extra year with a personalized programme.

Royal Conservatory Brussels

The Jazz course at the Conservatory is an open minded, multicultural and not dogmatic course.

Because of the large number of international students, the course has become a cultural melting pot  creating opportunities to break out of the traditional image of a jazz program.

Where the first years of the course focus on mastery of jazz in its traditional form, in the later years a personal interpretation of styles and input of one’s own artistic personality is strongly encouraged.

The course has a rather eclectic musical approach.

With about 100 students in the jazz course every year, the school offers a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, with the possibility of a postgraduate degree as well as an educational master after successfully finishing the master for main instrument.
