With more than 400 events each year, Stadtgarten Köln is a trademark venue in Cologne for live music and cultural events, presenting a wide-ranging programme of concerts, club nights and readings. Events take place across three spaces: the main concert hall, Club JAKI, and the open-air Green Room stage.
At the heart of Stadtgarten’s artistic programme are jazz and contemporary music in all their diverse forms. Particular emphasis is placed on innovative, genre-crossing artistic approaches that move beyond convention and mainstream trends. The programme spans contemporary jazz, improvised music, electronic sounds, experimental pop and rock, as well as new singer-songwriter formats. Since 2017, Stadtgarten Köln has been steadily developed as a European centre for jazz and contemporary music. Since 2019, it has also been home to NICA artist development, the artist development programme of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia organized by Stadtgarten.
Stadtgarten is run by the Initiative Kölner Jazz Haus e.V., an association originally founded as a musicians’ initiative. Since the opening of its purpose-built concert hall on 4 September 1986, Stadtgarten has established itself as a space for musical innovation, artistic exchange and cultural diversity.

On 4 September 2026, Stadtgarten will mark its 40th anniversary with a major festival across all of its stages.
