Turner Sims Southampton have announced a packed season of jazz for Spring 2024. Duos include Norwegian vocalist Silje Nergaard with pianist Espen Berg, and harpist Alina Bzhezhinska and saxophonist Tony Kofi. Mark Kavuma and Theo Erskine head an all-star band and present music from their first duo record Ultrasound. Trombonist Lis Wessberg performs music from her incredible album Yellow Map, presented in partnership with Jazz Danmark and as part of the Sounds of Denmark Festival.
Fergus McCreadie returns with his trio, and Iain Ballamy celebrates the vibrant music of Brazil. There are saxophones aplenty with visits from Camilla George (in picture), Dee Byrne, and Jasmine Myra. Fast-rising star corto.alto makes his Turner Sims debut with a heady mix of improvisation, electronic production, broken beat bounce and bass-heavy dub.
