JPN Conference update, and good news from Cardiff

Plans for this year’s JPN Conference on November 6 and 7 in Cardiff are moving ahead, with support from Arts Council Wales recently confirmed

We are also delighted to announce that our special guest performers to end the showcase programme on Nov 7 will be the acclaimed Welsh jazz pianist and composer Huw Warren joined by singer/violinist Angharad Jenkins, presenting a new project The Gower Nightingale / Eos Gwyr which delves into the Gower and Swansea’s rich tapestry of songs and melodies, exploring themes of identity and language, through the lens of both traditional and new music.

Early Bird registration for the conference will open in July and we will be inviting JPN members and other partners to submit showcase nominations in the next few weeks.

We were also delighted to learn that our conference co-host Cardiff University have just announced that plans to close the music and languages departments have now been overturned. This would not have affected our conference as closure would not have happened until 2030 but it’s great to know that the department, which has nurtured many jazz musicians and composers over the years, will continue.

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition. Details HERE.
