Creative organists wanted!  “Spiritual Music” project takes off

 

Taller de Musics (Spain) and Fundația Jazz Festival & Events (Romania) launched a call for creative organists’ resident in EU countries with deadline on May 30!  The call is a first step of a 2-year project called Spiritual Music, run in a consortium led by Musicamorfosi (Italy). Spiritual Music aims to promote creation and outreach of contemporary spiritual music, with particular attention to the dialogue between tradition and new musical languages, including jazz.

 

WHO CAN APPLY

This CALL is addressed to creative organists interested in exploring the relationship between organ, spiritual music, vocality, and contemporaneity, through an open, inclusive, and potentially interdisciplinary approach.

 

The selection aims to identify artistic profiles capable of:

  • interpreting the organ as a living, contemporary instrument
  • engaging in dialogue with different repertoires and musical languages
  • demonstrating an aptitude for dissemination and artistic cross-pollination

OUTCOME : the selected creative organists deemed eligible will become part of the European project “Spiritual Music” and will gain access to the following opportunities:

  • Involvement in artistic and research activities (residencies, concerts, performances, study sessions, and opportunities for exchange), according to the schedule defined by the project partners
  • Performance opportunities and international visibility within public events, concerts, and outreach activities included in the project
  • Enhancement of the artistic profile through communication, documentation, and dissemination activities curated by the project partners
  • Collaboration with an international network of European cultural institutions and operators, fostering the exchange of practices, languages, and visions
  • Inclusion in a cultural outreach pathway aimed at promoting spiritual organ music to diverse audiences, including non-specialist ones.
