Over a span of five days in venues all across Trondheim, you can experience a mix of young, up and coming artists along with some of the biggest stars from the Norwegian and international jazz scene. Jazzfest offers a varied and exciting program with brand new commissions, several in-house productions and exciting new artists who have never performed in Trondheim before.

This festival is the first festival led by the new director Joakim Weibull. Jazzfest in Trondheim will continue to build on a solid base of a soon 100-year old tradition of jazz in Trondheim, to be a source of inspiration and an extention of an incredible music scene, with a lot built around the university’s jazz department.

We are proud to present three commissions:
- Cosmic Swing OrchestraThe Jazz Togetherness Show, composed by Petter Dalane
- Needlepoint Slightly Expanded, composed by Bjørn Klakegg
- Kim MyhrFeral Songs

We are also really looking forward to hosting the Artistic Exchange Platform 2026, an annual meeting by Europe Jazz Network where 40 EJN members will experience the best of Norwegian jazz, in beautiful Trondheim during spring time.

The festival starts and ends with two of Norway’s biggest international jazz exports: Jan Garbarek Group feat. Trilok Gurtu, and Nils Petter Molvær with his international breakthrough KHMER. We also proudly present the artistic shift in Trondheim Jazz Orchestra with a concert with former artistic director Ole Morten Vågan with Jason Moran, and a concert with the new artistic director Heida Mobeck and her project We Are?

Trondheim Jazz Festival has a strong focus on young musicians and youth, and present several college bands and student bands from the Jazz department at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). This is also manifested through our project JOYN-IN, our commitment towards inclusion and diversity, which give the new generations an introduction to the fantastic world of jazz.
