VNJJ, founded in 1995, is a member organization consisting of 40+ jazz venues and jazz festivals in the Netherlands. The focus is on strengthening healthy and dynamic connections in the sector. The triangle of promoters (venues & festivals), musicians, and audiences is central to this. The VNJJ is governed by a board consisting of 5 members that represent the scope of jazz organizations in the Netherlands:
• Member: Hans Hermans (director of De Kultuurwerkplaats)
• Treasurer: Loek Laarman (board member Jazz in Arnhem)
• Member: Michelle Wilderom (director North Sea Round Town)
• Secretary: Mijke Loeven (director Bimhuis)
• Chair: Pieter Schoonderwoerd (freelance cultural professional).
The board is supported by a producer/marketer for daily communication. Connected to the VNJJ is its fundraising vehicle, the JazzVIP Foundation. The JazzVIP Foundation is the executive body that organizes projects that originate from the VNJJ and, in particular, the projects that contribute to a sustainable jazz ecosystem, careers of (young) makers, and audience expansion.
