My experience in Ghent: I arrived on Saturday 6th and I was walking to see the open air festival Jazz in the Park as Wim recommended, was not crowded because of the rain but I could talk with the musicians there and learn more about the contest involving B-Jazz.
On Saturday I visited the city of Gent by boat with a guide, was very fruitful to know about the history but also to have a map of the city to walk around. Later I visited a Jazz drawings exposition by the artist Geert Clarisse, all the drawings were of live jazz concerts in Gent during Jazz in the Park, Jazz gent, Gentse Feesten, Ha concerts, Hot club..... I was talking with him and I explained my mission there and of course he is a close friend of Wim Wabbes. On Saturday night was the Farewell party at Ha concerts venue organised by the staff and a lot of friends of Wim from his long carrear were there, also a lot of musicians and a DJ participated to say goodbye.
On Sunday I met Wim and we visited together the open air festival Jazz in the Park, was a sunny day and full of specially familiar public. On stage some well known Belgian musicians and a brass band playing on pauses. He introduced me to some of the organisers, one of them is one of our new members Muziekmozaiek. Was a nice afternoon with long talks about EJN and its activities.
Monday was a day to walk with Wim in order to know all the conference locations, we were together in the main one and the two for dinners and also the closing party one, later I was alone walking to the fringe ones and the young session's one. Like this I could guide the members when they arrived.
Tuesday 10th was an office day at the Ha concerts working as bookers for the GPT organised by Wim and I've found two possibilities for them. Also I was working for my media posts with the community manager there. Later we were preparing the board meeting room for the day after. Later I attended the general meeting with the three organasiers of the conference and learned all details of the schedule.
Was a wonderful experience.
