Turner Sims Southampton kickstart a stunning season of jazz with an exclusive double bill

In partnership with JazzDanmark as part of the Sounds of Denmark Festival, they present Svaneborg Kardyb and RKDIA, who take the stage on Wednesday 14 September, alongside two inspirational performances for local schools.

‘The Danish double bill at Turner Sims is a fantastic start to our new season, celebrating both our international connections and our continuing relationship with JazzDanmark and the Sounds of Denmark festival.  It’s made more special with the addition of two schools concerts as part of the bands’ visit. These concerts will give young people in Southampton the opportunity to hear, learn from, and be inspired by Svaneborg Kardyb and RKDIA as they begin their own musical journeys.’ Kevin Appleby, Manager of Turner Sims Southampton

Autumn also sees performances from the ever popular Penguin Café, trumpeter Laura Jurd with music from her new album, and New Orleans Creole banjoist Don Vappie. British jazz stars Courtney Pine and Zoey Rahman are joined by a string quartet to celebrate and debut new music from Courtney’s imminent release SPIRITUALITY, and visionary South African pianist, composer, and healer Nduduzo Makhathini performs music from his new release on the legendary Blue Note label, In the Spirit of Ntu.
