During the first weeks of May nature exploded into life and greenness here in Norway, and at the same time the students flooded the streets, filled with fresh ideas and energy. At the time of writing, the Norwegian Academy of Music has completely taken over Nasjonal jazzscene - Victoria for their exam concerts. 14 days of exciting bands, projects and solo performances; it is truly a joy to be in the room, feeling the growth and professionalism from the students.
Before this, we ended our own program mid-May with a string of special events. The spectacular Ellen Andrea Wang Trio and John Surman Quartet, both featuring Rob Luft gave a fantastic closure to our program. So also did Mark Guiliana, Kris Davis, Brian Marsella… so many memorable concerts!
Ahead of us lies a concert with four youth jazz orchestras, and in cooperation with Oslo Jazz Festival we contribute the band Leirblaa to Oslo Pride '25 festival. Then, in July, we can finally close our doors for the summer and go out to participate in all the lovely jazz festivals all over Norway: Molde, Kongsberg, Canal Street, Mandaljazz and many more.
It is also a festival that starts off our Autumn season: Oslo Jazz Festival presents a wonderful program of both International and Norwegian bands, many festival particular concerts and more. There will be jazz concerts all over Oslo from 11. to 16.th of August, some of the most exciting ones are at Victoria! Read the program here: https://oslojazz.com/
Late in August we finally start our own Autumn program, with our signature booking of new and exciting, both historically relevant and contemporary great music. We are looking forward to present artists like Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra, Frode Gjerstad Trio, Harpreet Bansal Trio, Eivind Aarset Quartet, Liv Andrea Hauge Trio, Daniel Herskedal Trio, Arild Andersen Group, Kurt Rosenwinkel Trio, Rolf Erik Nystrøm & Juliana Venter, Fred Hersh, Close Erase, Karl Seglem, Maja Ratkje & Stian Westerhus, Trygve Seim Sangam Ensemble, Donny McCaslin, Erlend Apneseth Trio and James Brandon Lewis.
