R&B, Blues & Soul night at the Museum.

Everything is in place for an amazing day of R&B, soul and blues at Moldejazz on Wednesday the 18th of July.

R&B, soul and blues at Romsdalsmuseet on the 18th of July

Romsdalsmuseet will host Janelle Monáe, Gary Clark Jr. and Maverick Sabre. In other words, it will be a star-studded concert for young people of all ages.

Janelle Monáe (USA)

The R&B/soul artist that Vogue Magazine described as a "different kind of diva" is ready for Romsdalsmuseet and Moldejazz. Musically speaking, Monáe isn't exactly bland. She blends R&B and hip hop with indie rock and unbelievably funky rhythms, and her performances and productions are always unique. She will bring a big band and dancers to Moldejazz, as well as the huge amounts of energy that she is known for sharing with her audience. In August 2011, she gave an amazing concert at Øyafestivalen. Both audience and reviewers were ecstatic. The dice of Norwegian critics rolled mainly fives and sixes, and NRK Lydverket went so far as to call her performance in Oslo "possibly the best concert at Sjøsiden ever". She was one of the headliners at the Nobel concert in November, and put on a tremendous show together with KORK. Watch a clip from the Nobel concert on YouTube.

Gary Clark Jr. (USA)

Guitarist Gary Clark Jr. from Austin, Texas, has been called the saviour of blues. He plays a combination of blues, rock, R&B and soul. Some compare him to Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, others to Lenny Kravitz and John Lee Hooker. Gary Clark Jr. has received a number of awards in his Texan hometown, including Austin’s Best Blues Musician, Best Blues Band, Best Blues Artist and Best Electric Guitarist.

Rolling Stone Magazine calls him "the best young gun". Not bad for someone who has yet to turn 30! 21. February 2012 he performed the Muddy Waters classic Catfish Blues in the White House for Barack Obama, and on the 18th of July you can experience him live at Romsdalsmuseet when he plays Norway for the first time! Maverick Sabre (UK)

21-year-old Maverick Sabre can safely be described as a comet in the new British soul movement. With his very characteristic voice, his debut album Lonely Are The Brave went straight in at no. 2 on the UK album list in mid February. Sabre has been described as this year's big hope for English music, and BBC1's Huw Stephens has dubbed him "a male Amy Winehouse". Maverick Sabre has strong connections to the hip hop scene, and has featured on tracks by Professor Green and Chase & Status. Watch Maverick Sabre on Youtube.
