The program of the next Rentrée Grands Formats is online!

The 17th edition of the Rentrée Grands Formats will take place from October 12 to December 16 with about 80 concerts in France, Europe, and beyond! 

The federation is glad to reveal an exciting programme of concerts that best reflects all the musical diversity and the creativity of the large ensembles and collectives it represents. 

This year, four European ensembles from our Think Big! network are joining the concerts programme : Jazz Station Big Band (BE), Clasijazz Big Band (SP), Tower Jazz Composers Orchestra (IT) and Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra (DE)

To close the Rentrée Grands Formats on a high note, you are invited to join us in Paris on December 15 and 16 for the highlights of this new edition :

Friday 15 December 2023 @ Médiathèque Musicale de Paris (MMP)

General Assembly of the Grands Formats federation* from 9.30am to 12.30pm

Think Big! Jam Session from 5 to 6.30pm led by the Jazz Station Big Band (BE) and guests musicians from Clasijazz Big Band (ES) and the Tower Jazz Composers Orchestra (IT)

Concert from 8.30pm to 10p.m: Jazz Station Big Band (BE) invites the Clasijazz Big Band with conductor Daahoud Salim and trumpeter Julian Sanchez, and the Tower Jazz Composers Orchestra with conductor Piero Bittolo Bon and tenor saxophonist Filippo Orefice.

Saturday 16 December 2023 @ Maison de la Radio et de la Musique

Panel from 3.30pm to 6.30pm: Territorial, national and European circulation of independent jazz and improvised music artistic teams with Fleurine Verloop-Mehldau singer and president of BiMpro (NL), Ade Monterreal singer and international project and distribution manager for Clasijazz Big Band (ES), Steve Mead director of Manchester Jazz Festival, Julien Desprez musician with the COAX collective. Moderation : Isabelle Lazzerini consultant inspector for creation, artistic education and cultural action at the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.

Concert from 7pm to 10pm at Studio 104 (Maison de la Radio et de la Musique):

Workers, une musique populaire by Kami Octet, a large ensemble led by Pascal Charrier.

Zeitgeist by Laurent Cugny Tentet, a large ensemble led by Laurent Cugny.

To celebrate its 20 years-anniversary, Grands Formats organises an anniversary cocktail on 16 December at the Maison de la Radio et de la Musique prior to the concerts, to which its French and European partners and members are invited.
