Showcase application phase 16 September until 4 November
With the start of the registration, the applications for the showcase festival also are open for all (co-) exhibitors and professional participants (all days). Bands can apply for the German Jazz Expo, European Jazz Meeting or Overseas Night modules, depending on their place of residence. The selection for the Canadian Night has been taken over from last year. However, bands from Canada can still apply for the Overseas Night 2022 as well.

As always, the four international juries appointed by jazzahead! will decide on the final program from all submissions - read the selection criteria here.  All application modalities and requirements can be  found here.

The Deutsche Jazzpreis (German Jazz Award) will be presented in Bremen in 2022!
It's official: Bremen will host the German Jazz Award ceremony in 2022. In order to honour the innovative power of Jazz Made in Germany in all its facets, Prof. Monika Grütters, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, has announced the German Jazz Award. As the German government's central funding institution for the music industry, the Initiative Musik has been entrusted with its realization. The second edition of the German Jazz Award will take place in Bremen on April 27, 2022. More info to come in the next newsletter.

Invitation program for the German Jazz Expo 2022
Once again we are able to invite festival and club promoters to attend the German Jazz Expo 2022, which is part of jazzahead! in Bremen. Our invitation program supported by the German government and Initiative Musik is oriented along strategic markets that already have good artistic exchange with German artists or addresses festivals where there is potential to enhance or develop a German artistic program. In 2022 we also give priority to young and/or female artistic directors/programmers to take part in the program. Guests of the GJE within the invitation program will be offered a specific agenda on site and receive free registration and accommodation.

The goal of the German Jazz Expo has always been to sustainably promote German jazz in an international context. To know more, please send an email to Nina Thomann from the jazzahead! team at thomann (AT) jazzahead.de.
