April–May 2026 Highlights

The Jazz Season at the Romanian Athenaeum, organized by the George Enescu Philharmonic in partnership with UCIMR, continues to redefine one of Bucharest’s most iconic classical venues by opening its stage to contemporary jazz.

Now in its second edition (October 2025 – May 2026), the series represents a significant step in diversifying the capital’s cultural offer, attracting new audiences while showcasing internationally acclaimed jazz artists. All concerts are recorded and later broadcast by national radio Radio Romania Muzical.

XY Quartet (Italy)

A leading voice in the contemporary Italian jazz scene, XY Quartet explores a refined and original musical language where composition and improvisation coexist in a dynamic balance. Known for their complex structures and expressive depth, the ensemble has performed extensively across Europe and received multiple accolades, including “Best Italian Group” distinctions by Musica Jazz magazine.

Córas Trio (UK/Ireland)

Part of a new wave of musicians from Belfast, Córas Trio blends traditional music with contemporary textures, improvisation and subtle electronic elements. Their sound challenges conventional boundaries, offering a fresh and exploratory approach to tradition. The trio has appeared at major international platforms, including the London Jazz Festival and IF Festival Canada.
