For two days, the Jazzbüro Hamburg presents fresh jazz from the Hanseatic city. Ten bands over two days – free of charge and outdoors – is a Hamburg tradition. For over 30 years now, the jazz festival has been taking place at the concert pavilion in Planten un Blomen, right in the heart of the Hanseatic city, in one of Hamburg’s most beautiful parks. This time, on the last weekend of August – 29 and 30 August – 10 groups, ranging from duos to big bands, from brass bands to jazz-rock trios, will perform in a relaxed atmosphere, showcasing just how rich the sonic diversity of modern jazz can be. The line-up is enriched with such exciting instruments as the harp, vibraphone, baritone saxophone and strings. There’s something for everyone here. The nice thing is that admission is free and you can choose for yourself whether to sit in the rows of chairs and follow the individual performances, or simply listen from behind them whilst picnicking in the park.
