#IJD2021: Live stream: Ivan Mazuze Band

For many years now the central forces in the jazz community of Oslo have come together to celebrate the International Jazz Day on April 30. with concerts and seminars. As most concerts in these trying times, this also has to be digital, so we've found some musicians who truly manages to come through the screen!

Saxophone player Ivan Mazuze had already lived a long and illustrious career in his home country Mozambique before he followed his heart and traveled north more than ten years ago. In Oslo he has become a vital part of the capital's music life with several record releases, national and international tours.

For this celebratory concert he has hand-picked three guest musicians, all living in Oslo, but with different cultural and musical backgrounds. Friday’s concert will show that jazz and improvisation communicate across cultures, and will highlight the fantastic diversity we have in Oslo's bubbling music scene; melodic and inspiring music.

The world will enter your living room on Friday: Mazuze has added Norwegian Fado singer Hanne Tveter, the Russian pianist Olga Konkova and Nepalese tabla player Sanskriti Shrestha to his permanent ensemble. You will hear open and catchy music, the warm and smiling proof that jazz and improvisation communicate across cultures and borders.

Enjoy, and happy Jazz Day: jazzday.com!
