After a wonderful first edition last year, we're delighted to announce that Gothenburg Free Spirit is back!
Together with local venues and grassroots initiatives, we're creating a warm and intimate mini festival with both Swedish and international musicians on stage.
This year's edition expands with an additional festival day in Lerum and welcomes artists from Sweden, Ukraine, France, Norway, Germany and the USA. Highlights include Ukrainian improviser Polina Pohozha, Women & Roots feat Linda Harris & David Cole (USA) presenting Freedom Songs, the European quartet Garden of Silence (FR/NO/DE) featuring Arve Henriksen, rising Swedish trombonist Agnes Darelid, and poet Emma Axberg with Swedish/Norwegian violinist Terese Lien Evenstad.
At the heart of Gothenburg Free Spirit is collaboration. The festival is built on grassroots initiatives, international partnerships and strong local alliances between independent venues, organisations and presenters who believe that culture grows through sharing knowledge, resources and communities.
Alongside the concerts, we'll host a conference day for music professionals, featuring discussions on building a more sustainable and inclusive music sector, international collaboration, and networking opportunities. We will also arrange an open talk between Jazz Sisters Europe and the Swedish organization IMPRA discussing how we can create better long-term conditions for women in the music industry.
We hope to see you in Gothenburg this September!
