Good looking Autumn in Oslo!

We are very lucky to open up Victoria after summer in cooperation sharing musical highlights with two festivals! The first one with only very young performers in a celebration of improvised music called Kids in Jazz. From all over Europe and Japan young musical talents meet, improvise and rehearse together, only hours later performing in several concert venues in Oslo. They have named the concert Saturday August 13.th at the Nasjonal Jazzscene their Celebration concert, but if you are in Oslo in the start of August you might as well visit them if you can. They play every night from the 11.th through the 16.th of August! Their full program can be found here: https://www.kidsinjazz.com/

Almost in conjunction, Oslo Jazz Festival is held from 13 to 20. August and their program is really a triumph! During that fabulous week you can have some truly rememberable close encounters at our lovely venue Victoria. The first one being a concert with one of our favourites, Craig Taborn playing solo piano in his unique way. And that is but the start of a great week, Lakecia Benjamin, Espen Berg, Sélène Saint-Aime and Eberson are just some of the acts you can experience during that week. Our part of the festival here: https://nasjonaljazzscene.no/?s=Oslo+jazzfestival

And then, finally arrives the 3rd of September and the fabulous bass player and vocalist Ellen Andrea Wang kicks off our own concert season in cohort with seven other double bass players! Kontrabassorkesteret is a band formed at last years Molde Jazz Festival, a project of deep love, low notes, dark lyrics with sparks of light flying all around from excellent performers -  with the bass finally taking center stage! Worth a flight to Norway alone! Details here: https://nasjonaljazzscene.no/arrangement/kontrabassorkesteret-2/

We are very proud of our programming in this first season of normality in Norway for the longest time, with international greats like John McLaughlin & The 4th Dimension, Gretchen Parlato, Rymden, Julian Lage Quartet, Helen Sung Trio, James Brandon Lewis Trio, The Young Mothers and Julia Hülsmann Quartet. You can also experience the best Norway can offer from Gard Nilssen’s Supersonic Orchestra, Nils Petter Molvær, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra & GURLS, Sigurd Hole, Building Instrument, Håkon Kornstad Trio, Trygve Seim – Helsinki Songs, Silje Nergaard & Espen Berg and many many more.
The whole of the program you can find here: https://nasjonaljazzscene.no/arrangement/

If you plan on traveling by our parts, please check out our program and come visit us. And even though you maybe haven’t heard of that nights band, we can still guarantee you a fabulous night at Victoria!

With love from Oslo, Norway
