G Livelab launches streaming service via App

G Livelab Helsinki has delighted live audiences since 2016 and the newest G Livelab venue in Tampere opened in August 2019. G Livelab, a brand known for high audio quality, intimate atmosphere of top artist performances and innovations for live music, launches their own streaming platform. Selected concerts can now be enjoyed via the G Livelab App in the comfort of your own living room or wherever you are. On-demand is available for 7 days, so you can watch the gig later if it is more convenient for you.

"Already at the early stages in the development of the G Livelab concept, we envisioned a mobile application that could enhance the live music experience and provide additional services. We wanted to get rid of queues and offer services that would put pure music experience in the focus. Live streaming was part of the plan since the very beginning and the current situation with the Covid-19 Pandemia made the development a priority", says Tanja Douglass, G Livelab Brand Manager and CEO of G Livelab Helsinki.

"The G Livelab App was launched at the opening of the first G Livelab in Helsinki 2016, and has been in use in the second one in Tampere since 2019. Ticket sales, drink and food orders in the app are already everyday practice for our customers. We are so excited to start offering tickets for streaming to those that can’t be physically present or want to enjoy the gigs at home or anywhere else with a mobile device", Douglass continues.

The first G Livestream performance is on Friday May 8th, 2020 at 8pm (UTC+3). The performance is by Timo Lassy, one of Finland's brightest jazz stars, and his ensemble. For this special streaming gig, Lassy has assembled a lineup that brings together young professionals and experienced bandmates. Next performance will be streamed from G Livelab Tampere on Friday May 22, 2020 at 8pm (UTC+3). This performance is by Suistamon Sähkö, an energetic fusion of world music, techno, and rap from Finland. The band draws their musical and visual inspiration from the Karelia region in the east and beyond Finnish borders, into an exciting accordion-based blend.

G Livelab venues are owned by the Finnish Musicians’ Union and all proceeds go into the development of live music. Visual design by Tero Ahonen.

The G Livelab App was developed by gApplication Inc., owned by Livelaboratorio Inc. gApplication specializes in the development of "white label" applications for restaurants, venues, festivals etc. The company has developed applications for Radio HelsinkiBlockfest, and many others under development. G Livelabs are excellent venues for streaming because of their high-quality audio and video technology. As proof of this, G Livelab Tampere recently won the best concert hall award in the international mondo*DR Awards competition. The award was given to G Livelab Tampere and Genelec Oy, that is responsible for the clubs’ sound reproductions. Other finalists in the category were the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Opera House in London and the China National Center for the Performing Arts.

The app is available for free download from the App Store and Google Play.
