Sons da Lusofonia Celebrates 30 Years with the 24th Edition of Portugal’s Major Jazz Meeting

Festa do Jazz returns for its 24th edition from 4 to 8 November 2026, bringing together artists, musicians, creators and jazz schools across the Centro Cultural de Belém and Teatro da Comuna, two iconic venues in Lisbon, Portugal, where the festival has traditionally taken place. This year’s programme explores the expansion of jazz soundscapes and their most liberating forms of vocal expression, presenting Portuguese and international projects across composition, improvisation, voice, electronics and contemporary musical languages.

The 2026 edition is particularly significant for Associação Sons da Lusofonia, an EJN member organisation celebrating 30 years of activity dedicated to artistic programming and creation, including the conception, production and delivery of Festa do Jazz. Over five days, the festival will present projects including BITOI, the Flat Earth Society Orchestra, Vicente Oliveira Sextet, Joana Raquel, Julia Perminova Trio, Luís Vicente Trio, Jazzopa, the Festa do Jazz Ensemble with Mané Fernandes, and Mário Franco Quintet.

As in previous editions, Festa do Jazz maintains its strong connection between education and professional practice through the National Meeting of Jazz Schools (ENE) and the RTP / Festa do Jazz Awards, while creating spaces for emerging talent, established artists and international collaboration. The 24th edition continues the festival’s longstanding role as a space for encounter, discovery and the affirmation of jazz creation in Portugal, while marking three decades of Sons da Lusofonia’s ongoing contribution to the development of Portugal’s jazz ecosystem.
