A presentation of the calendar of Italian jazz Festivals took place on the 3rd June 2015 in Rome at the presence of Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister of Culture, at MiBACT, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.

The meeting was organised by I-jazz, the Italian network of jazz Festivals, a member of Europe Jazz Network. In addition the Minister announced a public event to be held on the 6th September 2015 in L’Aquila, the Italian city heavily damaged by the earthquake in 2009 and still in reconstruction. The event will see over 250 jazz musicians, including Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Danilo Rea, Enrico Pieranunzi and many others that will perform in theatres as well as in unusual places such as balconies, churches and streets of the historic centre of the city. The big event will contribute to the cultural and economic renaissance of the city.

In the afternoon, a series of workshops held at the Casa del Jazz in Rome for members of I-jazz network covered topics such as European funding through the Creative Europe programme, copyright laws, a presentation of the Norwegian public system of support for jazz, and the use of social media for promoting cultural events.
