We're delighted that, following his success as the Creative Director for our B:Music Summer School 2025, Shivraj Singh has once again been selected to lead our Summer School this August.
The B:Music Summer School is a week-long creative music making programme at Symphony Hall. During this week, participants will be led by our brilliant team of tutors to develop skills in improvisation, harmony and ensemble performance skills through the exploration of Jazz and beyond. They will also take part in additional mass and specialist workshops that explore different areas of music, such as electronics, folk and Indian classical music.
An exceptional double and electric bass player from Birmingham, Shiv studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and has since maintained a busy gigging schedule across the UK, alongside his work as a music educator in the West Midlands.
This is an extra special moment for B:Music, as Shiv came up through our talent development program; having participated in our B:and Together Jazz Ensemble as a young musician, later progressing to the role of Support Tutor, Lead Tutor, and now Creative Director.
We're excited to see how this years' Summer School theme of 'Self:Expression' inspires and motivates the 72 young musicians joining us for a week of immersive learning and playing on the Symphony Hall stage. Shiv will be joined by a team of 15+ brilliant music educators, as well as our 8 Aspiring Music Leaders (music educators in training), who will receive 121 mentoring from a select group of our Lead and Support Tutors.
