49th Vossa Jazz Festival

The 49th Vossa Jazz festival is coming up soon! From the 8th to the 10th of April 2022 the small town Voss in Western Norway will once again host a wide range of great musicians, music lovers and innovative musical expressions. For the first time since 2019 we are able to arrange the festival in springtime as per tradition, the weekend before Easter!

Norwegian composer and piano player Andreas Ulvo (known from Shining, Mathias Eick, Ingrid Olava, Karl Seglem, Marit Larsen and Solveig Slettahjell) is this years composer of the Main Comissioned Work (Tingingsverket). He has put together an amazing group of musicians for Tingingsverket, and wants to use this project to further develop his musical ideas and expressions, combining jazz, classical, pop and traditional folk music into a powerful synthesis.

We are also proud to present newly commisioned works by Benedicte Maurseth/Sarah-Jane Summers, Tore Brunborg/Siv Øyunn and Trøen/Arnesen Quartet for this years festival. The opening concert will be held by Jon Balkes Siwan – a musical imagination inspired by the poetry of Al Andalus, sung in arabic.

Some of the international artists visiting Vossa Jazz 2022 are Femi Kuti, Sheila Jordan, Sylvie Courvoisier and Arashi!
