 The Soul Immigrants are one of Londons longest running jazz funk acts founded in 1992 by Emrys Baird & Nitin Sawhney promoting their new album Back from the Brink.
 
20th of September 2019 marked the release of ‘I’M A GOOD WOMAN”, the vibrant new single from the fine purveyors of energetic soul and funk music. The Soul Immigrants, featuring special guest vocalist Ria Currie (Speedometer, Snowboy, Craig Charles Fantasy Funk Band ) providing a hefty slice of lively retro psyche, soul gospel blessedness. The single also includes guests from the UK funk & soul scene such as Mark Ashfield (The Get Up) on Hammond organ, Ian Bailey (The Boom Yeh)  on saxes and Dave Boraston (Stone Foundation) on trumpet.

 

This is the sole cover version (originally recorded by Barbara Lynn) on the forthcoming new album 'Back From The Brink' which will be released mid Nov 2019 on an exclusive limited-edition Vinyl only release and an Album Launch at Pizza Express Holborn 30th Nov with special guests Freddie Notes & Ciyo Brown.

 

The band are one of London's longest running funk outfits, originally formed by Emrys Baird & Nitin Sawhney. The group were signed previously to P-VineRecords, Japan. Their last single (featuring The JB's trombonist, Fred Wesley) was championed by Craig Charles BBC Radio 6 and Robert Elms BBC Radio London, Mike Chadwick Jazz FM, Solar Radio & Delite Radio.

 

Hailing from South London, The Soul Immigrants have been quietly turning out vinyl 45’s for their own label Dry Rooti Records. Their new exclusive Vinyl only release on Laterilize Records, will feature special guests such as Jamaican artist, Freddie Notes who with his band The Rudies, recorded the global smash hit “Montego Bay” on Trojan records. 

 

Live you can expect some exciting funk filled, sassy grooves, heaps of audience participation and phenomenal soloing!The trio team up with former member and special guest on alto sax, Entropi's,cutting edge bandleader,Dee Byrne.If you like your horn horny,your bass like Bootsy and your guitar groovy, their shows should be just the ticket for you.
