Description:

Juan Saiz presents a fresh and reformist musical proposal characterized by the risk, the non-conformism, and the permanent search, making each performance a living, full-of-energy experience. The band is nourished by a very wide range of influences, from jazz to contemporary music, including free improvisation or free jazz. Dr. Bobô’s music flows between contemporary composition and the most risky improvisation. Music that is rich in texture and dynamics, that provides delicate and colorful environments, but also others, more dramatic and energetic, in which musicians enjoy greater freedom of movements.

Dr. Bobô has been released recently, on October 2019, with the most important record label in the Spanish jazz scene: Karonte. A record company in which some strongly influential musicians have recorded their own works. At that moment, they have playing in the main theaters and Jazz Clubs around Spain. Inspired by musicians like Thomas Chapin, Fabrizio Cassol or Mats Gustaffson, Juan ’s music is composed thinking in environment with no determined harmony in which the motivic lines and sound effects are taking its place.

Saiz shows a unique concept in his approach to the instrument, an array of extended techniques and a full and rich tone coexist in a very natural way of playing. Juan is a real multi instrumentalist, he plays with equal level of proficiency flute, tenor and soprano saxophone and piccolo.

In 2017, Juan released two albums,“Pindio”  with Leo Records, which meant the international recognition as a player and composer. Pindio was acclaimed as the album of the month in “Musica Jazz - The Italian Jazz Magazine”. And “The Sound of Caves”, a solo album recorded inside the caves in which he is playing with time and space, showing an incredible range of sounds in his playing. The natural sound of the cavity is the biggest source of inspiration for the artist, the sound remains and time stops, everything intimately related to the slow geological processes that take place there.
