GUILLAUME BARRAUD QUARTET
TALES OF THE BAMBOO REED
Guillaume Barraud : bansuri flutes
Tam De Villiers : electric guitar
Guillaume Ruelland : bass
Maxime Zampieri : drums
An exhilarating fusion of Indian Music and contemporary jazz with some of Paris’ finest musicians. After the acclaimed Indo-Jazz Sessions (Riverboat Records), Guillaume Barraud returns with a new opus entitled Tales of the Bamboo Reed, finding a sound that floats timelessly whilst bubbling with restless energy; setting the pure tones of the bansuri against hard-edged electric guitar and moody, grooving bass and drums.
A selection of highly poetic pieces that tell a complex initiatic journey, reflecting the artist’s special bond with the Indian bamboo flute. Initially, Barraud composed most of the material on his first instrument, the guitar, before expanding on flute, which shows the prominence of his British guitarist Tam De Villiers. The fleet-footed rhythm section comprises bassist Guillaume Ruelland and drummer Maxime Zampieri (Magic Malik).
