RENNER Jazz Trio

Unusual techniques for extraordinary effects

Draiflessen is looking forward to modern jazz from three young, highly virtuoso musicians who inspire with their enthusiasm and swing: the RENNER Trio – Moritz Renner (trombone), Tabea Kind (bass), and Valentin Renner (drums). A trio without a harmony instrument is a rarity in jazz – but RENNER uses this “gap” creatively and sonorously.

Even with complex time signatures such as 15/8, the ensemble swings effortlessly. Every note serves the musical ensemble – nothing is an end in itself. RENNER creates a special balance between improvisational freedom and precise structure.

The communication on stage is intense: mindful dialogues, trialogues, and an interplay full of ease and equality. All three fill their space with soulful solos and rhythmic sophistication. They impress with intelligent compositions, emotional and virtuoso playing, and a warm, transparent sound that can be classified musically in the genre of modern jazz.

In 2024, the trio received several awards, including the “BMW Young Artist Jazz Award,” the “Bavarian Jazz Association's Sponsorship Award,” and the “Biberach Jazz Award.” Since then, they have been touring Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
