A project that transcends the boundaries of everything he has produced so far, this new album brings a unique fusion of rhythms and lyrics that reflect Michael Pipoquinha’s personal and artistic journey. Recorded in 2024 at Gargolândia Studio, the album marks a turning point in his career, placing him at the heart of the compositions like never before. With meticulous production and special appearances by major international artists such as legendary bassist John Patitucci and multi-instrumentalist Richard Bona, Pipoquinha crafts a record that is both intimate and universal.
"A Minha Pele," one of the album’s key songs, symbolizes a turning point in the artist’s life and career. The track, which explores the complexities of his identity and his experiences as a Black man in Brazil, opened the doors for Pipoquinha to delve into new lyrical and emotional territories. In a style he describes as “Afro groove,” the song blends African influences with the essence of Brazilian music, creating a sound that is both powerful and unique.
This exploration continues throughout the album, with other tracks such as "Que Papo é Esse?" — a direct response to the criticism and prejudice that still exist toward Brazil’s Northeast. With lyrics that challenge stereotypes, the song is a cry of pride and resistance, shining a light on the region’s rich culture and history. "Mais Um Dia," another highlight, offers a reflection on modern life and the influence of technology on our relationships, fusing African groove with hints of samba.
Reflecting his personal growth, Michael Pipoquinha also pays tribute to the people and moments that shaped his life. With songs dedicated to his mother ("Mamãe Luísa") and his father ("Pipoca"), the album becomes a homage to his family and the roots that sustain his musical journey. These tributes are interwoven with declarations of love for music in tracks like "Minha Musa," where Pipoquinha thanks music for being his constant companion and source of inspiration.
