jazzahead! 2020: 23 - 26 April

Why you should visit jazzahead!
jazzahead! is the annual industry gathering of the international jazz scene in Bremen, Germany. In 2019, 3,408 participants from 64 countries were registered. jazzahead! connects the international scene since 2006. The participants of jazzahead! come from all areas of the scene such as: artists and promoters, bookers, labels, agencies, publishers, festival and club programmers, distributors, lobby institutions, associations, press and more.

"For the past several years, in the business and the practice of jazz on the European side of the Atlantic, nearly all roads have led to Bremen, Germany for a long weekend in late April. The increasingly potent magnet: jazzahead!, the expanding phenom of a convention, expo, networking emporium and, yes, densely-packed and tightly organized music festival.“
Joe Woodard, Cadence Magazine

jazzahead! showcases 2020 program: Large ensembles and female empowerment
The two main themes which emerge from the application round for the 40 showcase slots at jazzahead! 2020 are: an impressive selection of large ensembles and for the very first time, a very substantial number of bands led by women. In the 40 short showcase concerts, the artists selected will be performing for an audience largely consisting of festival programmers, bookers and record label representatives. So the trade fair is not just an important platform for networking, it is also an event where bands are booked on the spot, and contracts are agreed. This year, the four international juries have had a heavier workload than ever: their task has been to listen to, rank and discuss a total of 816 applications from 50 countries (2019: 764). You can read the entire program here.

jazzahead! Matchmaking
jazzahead! has again teamed up with Enterprise Europe Network Bremen to offer the jazzahead! matchmaking service to all professional participants and (co-)exhibitors.

What is a matchmaking?
• Bilateral meetings that are a quick and easy way to meet new potential service providers and cooperation partners
• Attendees meet and greet in 20-minute intervals, then the bell rings and the next meeting begins
• Instead of holding business meetings by chance, our matchmaking sessions guarantee booked meetings at reserved tables
