Around 60 concerts at over 40 venues: Ticket sales begin in early June
The third festival edition curated by Stefan Festini Cucco, Max von Pretz, and Roberto Tubaro kicks off on 27 June with Industrial Echoes, a sound performance, and a concert by the Amsterdam-based Brainteaser Orchestra at NOI Techpark Bolzano. Until 6 July, the festival will present more than 60 concerts at over 40 venues across South Tyrol, including squares and streets, parks, historic sites, mountains, and many more.
This year’s programme features a range of new and unusual locations, such as the Klimastollen in the Prettau mine, the historic Hotel Pragser Wildsee, the Pünthof inn in Algund, the Alte Pforzheimer Hütte – a mountain refuge on the border between South Tyrol and Switzerland – the Cason Mont de Sëura in the Dolomites, and Zoona Magnifique, a cultural initiative in Bolzano’s industrial zone.
On 29 June, the Franzensfeste fortress becomes a stage for young audiences. A creative music workshop for children will be followed by a concert by Lynn Cassiers and Nabou Claerhout, who explore sonic possibilities using trombone, electronics, and everyday objects in a playful sound kitchen. The Austrian quartet Purple Muscle Car closes the Jazz Day in the Fortress with a high-energy, danceable avant-garde jazz set.
In 2025, the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige once again welcomes compelling musicians from the European contemporary jazz scene. Among them are Raw Fish, a Danish-Italian duo that blends punk, indie rock, and experimental electronics; the Swiss band Sc’ööf, known for its unconventional fusion of jazz, rock, and punk; and the outstanding Danish-Norwegian quartet Emmeluth’s Amoeba. All three will perform at the Batzen Sudwerk brewhouse, home to the festival’s legendary late-night concerts and the third edition of the “Kabarila” ritual.
Mountain concerts remain a highlight of the festival: the Sardinian vocal ensemble Tenores di Orosei and multi-instrumentalist Zoe Pia will perform together at 2,000 metres above sea level in front of the Poschhaus mine in Ridanna. The Italian trio She’s Analog will play among the meadows of the Rittner Horn. One-day jazz hikes lead to the Juac hut in Selva and the Cason Mont de Sëura in the heart of the Dolomites. On the Vigiljoch above Lana, visitors can enjoy a unique acoustic experience while floating by chairlift through a live soundscape that blends music with the natural environment.
In the Vinschgau region, the historic Alte Pforzheimer Hütte and its alpine surroundings host a multi-day artist residency. Finnish drummer Tatu Rönkkö and saxophonist Damian Dalla Torre will spend a week working on a collaborative music project. On 5 July, they invite guests to a workshop with a sound excursion, and on 6 July, they present the results of their residency and workshop in a final concert. An extraordinary experience – like so many concerts at the Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige.
