Jazzkaar News Christmas Jazz Festival 2014 19th International Christmas Jazz Festival organized by Jazzkaar will take place November 23rd –December 15th all over Estonia. Christmas Jazz Festival headliners are singer-bassist Richard Bona and Latin Grammy awarded Brazilian singer Paula Morelenbaum.

Richard Bona is a Grammy-awarded multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and one of the most popular jazz musicians who will be performing at Jazzkaar for the third time. Bossa nova queen Paula Morelenbaum with her silver voice will mix together Brazilian melodies with classics like Chopin and Schubert.

Christmas Jazz Festival will bring concerts to all over Estonia – Tallinn, Pärnu, Tartu, Viljandi, Haapsalu, Rapla and Rakvere. Opening event, a small intimate concert by Estonian new duo Jarek Kasar–Erki Pärnoja will take place at a magnificent Kau manor. Joel-Remmel Trio concert will be broadcasted through Estonian Radio classical channel to European jazz listeners. New repertoire and a debut album will be presented by a capella vocal group Estonian Voices. Guitar player Robert Jürjendal will be painting new musical palettes with harp player Liis Viira. There will also be a traditional family concert with Estonian Radio children choirs, vocalist Hanna-Liina Võsa and Tiit Kikas group.

For the first time Jazzkaar will also present genuine gospel directly from New York Harlem with the appreances of Harlem Spirit of Gospel in Tallinn and Pärnu. The sounds of classical jazz will be played by Scottish popular duo Tommy Smith-Brian Kellock, modern European sounds by JazzEnsemble Baden-Württernberg featuring Estonian piano player Kristjan Randalu. Special treat will be the concert of multi-cultural electronic group Down of Midi from New York, their album has been voted as one of the top jazz records by BBC 3 and The New Yorker editors. Young talented singer-songwriter Douglas Dare from UK has gained wide recognition in Europe with his two albums.
