The 'Monheim Triennale' is an international music festival aiming to document ground-breaking artistic positions in contemporary music. The aim of the Monheim Triennale is to present current improvised and composed as well as popular music at eye-level in a joint festival context. Artistic Director is Reiner Michalke.

The festival' inaugural edition has been postponed twice due to Covid-19.

'The Prequel' took place from July 1st to July 4th 2021 in Monheim am Rhein, Germany. The 'Festival' took place from June 22nd to 26th 2022.

This year, from June 3rd to July 2nd, the new three years term of Monheim Triennale II has been recently started with 'The Sound - Sonic. Art in Public Spaces'. An Exhibition of site specific sound art installations for Monheim am Rhein.

The festival is organized by the Monheimer Musikfestival GmbHI, a non-profit organisation, owned by the city of Monheim. The company started in 2018.

With artist in residence Achim Tang the Monheim Triennale has created ties between the city's residents and the festival's content well before its first edition. Since 2019, Achim Tang resides and works in Monheim, acting as an ambassador for the festival and participating in various collaborations to further simulate the city's cultural development.
