Sona Jobarteh

Sona Jobarteh is the first female Kora virtuoso to come from a renowned West Africa Griot family, rich in tradition. With that, she breaks a centuries-old tradition which sees Kora playing solely as a male domain. Recognised internationally as a multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer, she is at the vanguard of a new African generation that invests all of its expansive skillset to preserve the traditional music culture and to develop it further in the future.
