#1 They are between twenty and thirty years old – but they play the music of their fathers and grandfathers. Currently, London is enjoying one of the most significant revivals in jazz history and amongst them is the band Maisha. The six-piece band blows fresh wind into the spiritual tradition of the 60’s and 70’s, from Coltrane to Sun Ra. A resurrection that sounds just as current as it did then. The band, which features the star-saxophonist Nubya Garcia, was also to be found on the label sampler «We Out Here» from Brownswood Recordings.
