In contemporary jazz there are very few line-ups that master the contrast between conceptional detail work and improvisational release as well as the Inner Language Trio led by Christian Stiefel. Based on a mediaeval compositional technique (isorhythmic), for the album “Embracing” Stiefel has created new material that oscillates in a fascinating manner from groove intensity to tonal art. His young musical companions, bassist Lukas Traxel and drummer Tobias Backhaus, enrich the new compositions with their highly-developed flair for subtle and interactive jazz.
