The Swedish Jazz Federation (Svensk Jazz) is a non-profit member organization gathers jazz clubs, festivals, musicians and other organisations within the Swedish jazz field. Svensk Jazz offers support to members in a variety of areas and works to improve the conditions for jazz as a music form in Sweden. Through collaboration with other organizations and authorities Svensk Jazz tries to improve and develop jazz operations and conditions.

The many jazz clubs that are members of Svensk Jazz work under different circumstances and represents a broad spectrum of current jazz. Intensive efforts are continuously being made to seek cooperation and support from municipalities, educational associations, county music foundations and sponsors.

SJR holds an annual jazz parliament where, in addition to customary annual meeting negotiations, the state of jazz and its future is also addressed. The jazz parliament has been used to award key individuals and initiatives as a way of energizing the jazz community. The awards include:
Jazz County of the Year
The Bass Player - An individual who in a valuable way promotes the goals and merits of the association
The Jazz Jug - A person who strives for innovation in jazz
SJR’s Honorary prize - A Swedish or foreign individual for their life long service within the jazz field
The Swedish Jazz Association is a member of MAIS (Collaboration of Music Organizers), which also consists of nine other national non-profit organizations within different genres. Together MAIS represents over 1000 organizers of music events in all parts of Sweden.
