Onassis Cultural Centre

Description:
The Onassis Cultural Centre is a major Athens cultural space hosting events and actions across the whole spectrum of the arts from theater, dance, music, cinema and the visual arts to the written word, with an emphasis on contemporary cultural expressions, on supporting Greek artists, on cultivating international collaborations and on educating children and people of all ages through life-long learning. We present a yearly programme running from October to July, with over 150 productions both within our space and in other spaces in Athens. We are a fully funded division of the Onassis Foundation with a mission to bring innovative, challenging new work to the broadest audience possible.

The Onassis Cultural Centre has been organsing a series of jazz events every year since 2010, this includes concerts with European artists and groups that we invite to Athens (established artists such as Dave Holland, Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Gianluigi Trovesi, Gianni Coscia, Stephan Micus, Evan Parker, Markus Stockhausen, Louis Sclavis or Barry Guy or younger artists such as Portico quartet, Giovanni Guidi, Augusti Fernandes, Nils Okland or the Berlin-based improv trio Glue) as well as regular 3-days festivals which involve inviting European artists to come and perform with Greek musicians. Furthermore we have been regular financial supporters of the Athens Jazz Festival that takes place at Technopolis.
