Istanbul Jazz Festival / Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts

Description:

Istanbul Jazz Festival is organised every year in July since 1994 by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. The foundation chose to build the festival around jazz music since it believes jazz is one of the most innovative musical genres, open to new ideas, inclusive and accessible. The Istanbul Jazz Festival features both various forms of jazz and other music genres like rock, pop, and world music. Accordingly, the festival presents a broad-spectrum of international acts and events which bring together jazz & music lovers, supports works of jazz musicians in Turkey and encourages new productions.

Each year, the festival attracts thousands of people to around 30 to 40 concerts held at various historical locations and landmark venues of this millennia-old city Istanbul. Since 2017, the festival also aims to promote Turkish jazz and music scene through a showcase event called “Vitrin”.
