Trumpeter, conductor and composer Štěpánka Balcarová is an important figure in the contemporary Czech jazz scene. Štěpánka is the holder of two Anděl Awards in the jazz category and two other nominations for this award.
 
Štěpánka is a Czech trumpet player, composer and conductor. In 2012, she completed a master's program in jazz trumpet at the prestigious Karol Szymanovski Academy of Music in Katowice. She later studied jazz composition and arranging in Graz under the guidance of renowned composer and bandleader Ed Partyka. She currently lives in Prague, where she works as a teacher at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and High School and at the HAMU Jazz Department. Štěpánka Balcarová is the bandmaster of several music projects, chiefly the jazz big band Concept Art Orchestra, a septet with the Polish singer Małgorzata Hutek and the Czech-Polish quintet Inner Spaces. She also plays in the Petr Kořínek Trialogue and occasionally collaborates with other important performers on the Czech and foreign jazz scene. She has been preparing a music show Jazz Evening for Czech Radio since 2019.
