Kelvin Sholar is an American pianist, composer, band-leader, educator, label owner and publisher. Sholar’s unique sound was perhaps summed up in press best by Artforum International, the world’s leading art magazine. They cited Sholar in “Best of Music” along with (Kanye West and Leonard Cohen) as eight of ten top musical acts: "Opening with a Jelly Roll Morton rag, this exceptional producer and keyboardist soon transitioned into a body of original solo piano material that evoked Kevin Saunderson as powerfully as it did Cecil Taylor.
