Since its day of opening on 24 May 1996, the main aim of the Budapest Music Center has been to present values of Hungarian music in its complexity and entirety. The company's objective is to actively participate in helping Hungarian music culture take the place it deserves in the world - by creating products and services that meet the demands of the music market of the 21st century.

Colleagues of the Budapest Music Center strongly believe that in the Mid- and Eastern European region - due to its unique historical position - a great amount of yet undiscovered value has accumulated that considerably differs from the cultures existing in the Western part of Europe. Making these values familiar to the widest possible public and integrating them into the blood stream of the international market can direct the attention of the world to the hidden treasures of the region; as the example of world-famous composers, György Ligeti, György Kurtág and Péter Eötvös has shown.
