Lucas Santana and his 5tet will perform the music of their latest album Ambivalence live at LantarenVenster on the 30th of December, 2022.
From the moment he got enrolled at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2015, the versatile and energetic Brazilian saxophonist Lucas Figueiredo Santana (1993) has managed to leave his footprint on the music scene. Having performed in various settings ranging from trios, quartets, quintets to big bands, Santana quickly established an incredibly impressive resume as a solo artist.
Now, however, Santana aims to focus on his own 5tet, of which ZenneZ Records released a second album this year, entitled Ambivalence. A record met with critical acclaim by both national and international press. Being rooted in many music traditions, Santana and his 5tet manage to explore a great diversity of musical styles, ranging from jazz, blues to soul, with Santana’s Brazilian roots shining through on all levels. Played with great virtuosity, but with that energetic hard bop sound. Restrained and subtle, yet fast and dynamic.
