L'ORCHESTRA DI PIAZZA VITTORIO

Formed in a multi-ethnic district of Rome, Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio gathers musicians originating from such divergent places as Tunisia, Brazil, Senegal, India, Hungary, the USA, Latin America and Italy. The cultural mixture that characterised the surroundings of Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II was noticed by the musician Mário Tronco, a veteran of the Italian pop scene, and led him to create a synthesis of the varied sounds from voices and instruments of diverse immigrants. The orchestra was the subject of a documentary by Agostino Ferrente in 2006, L'Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, which won 17 prizes in cinema festivals all over the world and led the group to international fame.
