Jazz legends visiting Summer Session in Denmark

For over 50 years Summer Session has been an annual, weeklong music camp in Denmark for professional jazz musicians. Summer Session has a reputation for bringing in some of the best names in jazz to teach, play and interact with the camp participants.

This year’s line-up isn’t different from the previous years as it is once again packed with quality musicians. Legendary drummers Louis Hayes and Jeff “Tain” Watts, The Fringe (George Garzone, Bob Gullotti, John Lockwood) and multi instrumentalist Yuka Honda will all be part of the faculty this year. On top of that, guitarist Nels Cline and pianist Kenny Barron will also be there, giving master classes and hosting instrument workshops.

Summer Session will take place from July 29th to August 4th at Krogerup Højskole, a school just 45 minutes north of Copenhagen. With its idyllic surroundings – close to the sea and forest – Summer Session is the perfect place to dive into six days of learning, playing and connecting with fellow musicians.

During the last five to ten years, Summer Session has also managed to get the attention of musicians outside of Denmark and they are of course more than welcome to apply for a spot at Summer Session.

Deadline for application is June 11th.
