Great jazz in Norway: Kongsberg Jazz Festival

Between the 1st and 4th July 2015 the Kongsberg Jazzfestival will take place in the south of Norway. The Festival, a member of Europe Jazz Network, is one of the oldest jazz festivals in Europe, the first edition dates back to 1964, and with time it developed to include a wide range of musical styles, from avant-garde jazz and electronic music to rock and blues.

In addition to great international names the Festival is an opportunity for many young artists to perform, and many famous Norwegian musicians began their careers in Kongsberg. In addition, the Festival gives each year the DMB award to the most prominent Norwegian jazz artist of the year.

Headliners this year include Van Morrison, Röyksopp, Cassandra Wilson, Dr. John and the Nite Trippers, Brad Mehldau and Mathias Eick, winner of the DNB prize of last year.
