After the presentation of the summer calendar of Italian jazz Festivals, Dario Franceschini commented: “There will be new resources and rules for a sector that was neglected for too many years in Italy”

In addition the Minister announced a public event to be held on the 6th September 2015 in L’Aquila, the Italian city heavily damaged by the earthquake in 2009 and still in reconstruction. The event will see over 250 jazz musicians, including Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Danilo Rea, Enrico Pieranunzi and many others that will perform in theatres as well as in unusual places such as balconies, churches and streets of the historic centre of the city. The big event will contribute to the cultural and economic renaissance of the city.

In the afternoon, a series of workshops held at the Casa del Jazz in Rome for members of I-jazz network covered topics such as European funding through the Creative Europe programme, copyright laws, a presentation of the Norwegian public system of support for jazz, and the use of social media for promoting cultural events.
