Danish Jazz Competition 2021

The Danish Jazz Competition (Jazzkonkurrencen) is heading into the final round where the winners will be selected at the final concert at legendary Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen. The third edition of the competition will feature two upcoming bands from the city of Aalborg: Metroscope, a groove driven fusion quartet and the minimalistic and lyrical guitar trio Xhud [ʃuːt]. The winner will be found on the 30st of October and will take away 1500 Euro prize money.

The aim of the project is to discover new talents and provide them with tools, knowledge and experiences that will help them with their future endeavors in the jazz music industry. During the competition, the participants will play at some of the best venues in Denmark and prior to the finale, the finalists will have the opportunity to record new material, receive coaching on their performance, and be played on the national jazz radio channel - P8 Jazz.

Since winning the first edition back in 2019, the first winners Svaneborg Kardyb have won two awards at the Danish Music Awards for Jazz, been on a sold-out tour throughout Denmark, and participated at Nordic Jazz Comets.
