Founded by Jeremiah Lockwood, Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (drums), touring member of Arcade Fire Colin Stetson on bass saxophone, and Stuart Bogie and Jordan McLean of the Antibalas horn section on tenor saxophone and trumpet they deliver an unforgettable live set. KOBO TOWN Style: calypso, roots reggae, indie, alternative, world Tour periods Europe 2013: June, July and August + winter New album: Jumbie in the Jukebox Kobo Town takes the intricate wordplay of classic Caribbean music and runs it through a 21st Century filter. In the world of Kobo Town calypso, roots reggae, and acoustic instrumentation meet innovative production techniques, social commentary and indie rock attitude. Kobo Town’s second album Jumbie in the Jukebox will be released in early 2013 by Stonetree and Cumbancha. The new album was produced by Ivan Duran, whose masterful work on the now classic Wátina from Andy Palacio & the Garifuna Collective earned a 2007 WOMEX Award and was selected by Amazon.com as “The Greatest World Music Album of All Time.” |

LEK SEN Style: reggae, roots, urban, alternative, world Tour periods Europe 2013: all year New album: Lek Sen (see below) Lëk Sèn the former rapper of the Dakar (Sénégal) hip-hop band SSK, was brought to France 8 years ago by Amadaou & Mariam's drummer Yvo Abadi, after a collaboration with Parisian musicians "Luxor Station". Lëk Sèn is captivating and touching, even when he sings solo (guitar/voice) and also totally mesmerizing when he plays his own style of reggae, bridging the gap between roots and urban production. In both styles, Lëk Sèn manages to show a captivating intensity that takes firm hold of his crowd and never lets them go. The first single "Ndobine" of his upcoming album, (a vinyl-EP released on the 15th of October) is an insight of the new album which will be released in the beginning of 2013 via "Chapter Two/Wagram. |
