The Tito Puente Latin Jazz Project

Jazz Network | Agency proposals | 2012-11-29

THE TITO PUENTE LATIN AND LATIN JAZZ PROJECT

Tito Puente, the Multi-Grammy winner, was crowned by the music industry, as The King of Latin Music. Arguably Latin music’s most notable representative. In the last sixty years his music has transcended throughout the world. His dance oriented Mambos , Cha Chas and Latin Jazz composition are still played today.

In 2013 the Tito Puente Latin Jazz Project (TPLJP) will tour in the US and Europe. The show will embrace the musical era of the internationally renowned New York City Nite Club - The PALLADIUM. The All Star big band will perform PUENTE’S, and the Big Three’s monumental hits of the 1950’s. The New York PALLADIUM, known as the Home of the Mambo, is where the Big Three – Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodriguez ruled, and fiercely played against each other. PUENTE’S Afro-Cuban music is marked with perfection and has turned this colorful Icon into a Legend. Till this day his Jazz infused Rhythms have not been matched.

The Band will consist of the former members of the Tito Puente band. Some of which played with Puente for thirty years. The camaraderie of this special band in specific will deliver the Puente sound as no other band can. Traveling with the tour will be Joe Conzo – The Biographer, Author, and Historian of Tito Puente. Conzo, who is the foremost authority on Tito Puente in the world, will during the show give the audience some trivia of New York City in the 1950s, The Palladium, and how many of the music greats worked together to write some of the best tunes ever recorded, etc.

Also, during the performance the audience will see visuals of photos and videos of Puente. The audience will be entertained with a strong audio and visual show.

We are currently in the process of organizing the 2013-14 tour. If you are interested in this presentation please contact:
